Driven to Care
SETF’s parent company gives nearly $600,000 to charity in four months
June 2021

After a record-breaking year of giving to charity in 2020, our parent company JM Family Enterprises has wasted no time speeding into our next year of fundraisers and events.

From January to April 2021, JM Family donated $595,000 to organizations like United Way, Gumbo Limbo Nature Center and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Broward County. Associates also gave time to charitable organizations that support children and families, education and even their fellow associates.

2021 giving highlights
For the first four months of 2021, four events stand out:

Show You Care, Buy a Square
This year marks an exciting milestone for JM Family’s Associates Helping Associates program! For 15 years, Associates Helping Associates (AHA) has been taking care of associates in times of need, and we have kicked off our brand-new campaign – Show You Care, Buy a Square.

Associates collected more than $134,000 for the program by buying virtual raffle board squares, winning more than 1,000 prizes like gift cards or Hoffman’s Chocolates gift baskets. More than 40% of associates pitched in.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
This MLK Day, JM Family announced that associates could receive 8 hours of paid time off for volunteering at their favorite nonprofit, religious institutions, school or other 501(c)3. That’s on top of the existing 8 hours, bringing the total to 16 hours a year.

From January to April 2021, JM Family donated $595,000 to organizations like United Way, Gumbo Limbo Nature Center and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Broward County.
Virtual runs
So far, associates have participated in seven different fundraising walks and runs to benefit nonprofits like the Boys and Girls Clubs of Broward County, the Humane Society of Broward County and Peace Place. The company has many more planned for the rest of the year.

Create to Donate
Across the company, associates tapped into their creative sides to make and donate items to nonprofits in a brand-new effort called “Create to Donate.” The group’s first donations of painted rocks, kindness cards, and knitted, crocheted and sewed items went to the foster children and parents living in SOS Children’s Villages Florida in Coconut Creek.

But 2021 is far from over. We kicked off the rest of the year with the virtual JM Family Race to End Hunger from May 26 to June 6, which supports food banks in each business location. We’re preparing for the future of giving with our new volunteer portal called Everyday Impact, which connects associates directly to nonprofits and volunteering opportunities in their area.
